In the preseason USA Today Sports coaches poll, the Florida Gators are ranked at No. 10. The Gators stand as one of only three teams from the SEC to be in the top 25. The Kentucky Wildcats are the highest ranked SEC team at No. 3 and the SEC-newcomer Missouri Tigers are ranked No. 17. The Tennessee Volunteers and the Georgia Bulldogs both received votes in the rankings.
The Indiana Hoosiers are ranked at No. 1, with 21 first-place votes. The Louisville Cardinals, the team that knocked the Gators out of the NCAA Tournament last year, is ranked No. 2 with five first place votes. The Wildcats also have five first place votes at No. 3. The Ohio St. Buckeyes are ranked No. 4 and the Michigan Wolverines round out the top five at No. 5.
The Florida St. Seminoles are tied with the Texas Longhorns at No. 24. They are one of four ACC teams in the top 25. The N.C. State Wolfpack are the top ranked team in the conference at No. 6, the Duke Blue Devils are No. 8 and the North Carolina Tar Heels are ranked No. 12. The Miami Hurricanes also received two votes in the rankings.
