Florida basketball coach Bill Donovan announced that Mike Rosario will start in the Gators' first exhibition game Thursday against Nebraska-Kearney. Rosario is considered to be a talented but temperamental player, and reports say Donovan is looking to motivate the 6'3 senior transfer from Rutgers who led the Gators' bench last season.
Florida's starting five is not set in stone, but a three-guard starting lineup is likely. Donovan is looking for more consistency out of Rosario, which he hasn't seen in the past. There's often been minor injuries keeping Rosario from being fully engaged.
Donovan is glad that things appear to be changing with a little extra motivation of logging starter's minutes in his senior year. Rosario said this is the opportunity and challenge he's been waiting for and that he's "overly excited for Thursday."
Senior guard Kenny Boynton and junior point guard Scottie Wilbekin will also start Thursday. Erik Murphy will start at power forward and Patric Young at center.
