The Florida Gators defense shutout Jacksonville State as the Gators rolled to a 23-0 win on Saturday.
The Gators held Jacksonville State to 48 yards rushing and 194 yards of total offense while forcing an interception. Jacksonville State was just 4 of 16 on third down.
Andy Hutchins of Alligator Army credited the defense for its performance but still questions the play of the offense line:
Truly, I don't know that this line has been very good at anything in particular since Vanderbilt ...
Florida backup Jacoby Brissett was 14 of 22 passing for 154 yards through the air while the the Gators rushed 36 times for 202 yards.
Hutchins believes that Jeff Driskel's ability to move outside the pocket and Mike Gillislee's burst through holes makes up for the offensive line's poor play, but they were exposed by Brissett, who is not a mobile quarterback.
Florida will play one of the toughest defensive fronts in the country next week when they travel to take on the Florida St. Seminoles.
