Gators recruiting class ranks No. 1

Florida has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2013 according to ESPN after safety Marcell Harris committed on Thursday.

Florida is now ranked No. 1 in ESPN's 2013 recruiting rankings after Dr. Phillips (Orlando) safety Marcell Harris committed to Will Muschamp and the Gators on Thursday morning.

Harris is a consensus 4-star recruit and committed to Florida over Florida State, Oklahoma and Texas. The safety is one of the top defensive prospects in the nation and was selected to play in the Under Armour All-American Game on Oct. 31.

Committing to Florida was almost a no-brainer for Harris, as he and his parents both grew up in Gainesville while his grandmother still lives in town. His father, Mike "Mud" Harris, was a safety for Florida from 1994-97.

Harris is the 22nd commit to Florida's 2013 recruiting class and the 10th that is a member of the ESPN 150. While the safety did suffer a knee injury on Oct. 25, he's expected to be ready to go once the Gators begin practice in the spring.
