Florida's freshman lineman Jafar Mann is expected to transfer, head coach Will Muschamp announced Monday. For Florida fans, this doesn't come as much of a surprise, since Mann had been recruited as a defensive tackle. He switched over to the offensive line in August when it became apparent that he wouldn't see snaps on defense any time soon, and the Gators needed to add some depth to their offensive line.
Mann was recruited from Stone Mountain, Ga., and rated a three-star prospect by Rivals, but he hasn't seen the field at all this season. The news that came as a surprise was Muschamp's announcement that backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett is going to stick around with Florida.
Brissett and Jeff Driskel were in a tight race for the starting quarterback spot going into the season, before Driskel was named the starter prior the Texas A&M game. Brissett wasn't far behind in the competition, but it's been said that he's accepted his role as Florida's backup, rather than trying to transfer to become a starter somewhere else eventually.
