Florida Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease has been rumored as one of the front runners for the head coaching vacancy at Kentucky. The Wildcats fired Joker Phillips on Sunday, and Pease is one of the candidates who could replace him.
Pease has a history in Lexington from his time as Kentucky's offensive coordinator from 2001 to 2002. In September, just before the Gators defeated the Wildcats, 38-0, Pease spoke highly of his time with Kentucky. He said he still had some of his friends who still live there and that he really loved Lexington.
Pease has friends in the Kentucky administration that he's worked closely with and that have been helpful to him. So a move back to Lexington for Pease would surprise no one.
The offensive coordinator also has the support of his current head coach Will Muschamp, who said he supports any of his assistants that get an opportunity to become a head coach .
