The Florida Gators will likely be without junior forward Casey Prather for the Navy-Marine Corps Classic on Friday. Kevin Brockway at the Gainesville Sun is reporting that Prather suffered a concussion at practice on Monday and will be held out for precautionary reasons. It is his second concussion this preseason, so the team will be careful with his return.
Addressing the two concussions, coach Billy Donovan told the media: "I don't think it was as bad as it was before. I would say right now he is probably not going to play on Friday."
The injury occurred when Prather took an elbow from teammate Patric Young while going up for a rebound. Prather averaged 1.8 rebounds per game last season and is a key returning player for Billy Donovan's Gators. Freshman guard Michael Frazier II will see increased playing time off the bench with Prather sidelined.
The second annual Carrier Classic will tip off at 9 p.m. Friday. The game will be shown on the NBC Sports Network.
