Florida Gators center Patric Young has worked on his conditioning this offseason, per the advice of coach Billy Donovan. As Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun reports, Young wants to be able to hustle up and down the court all game to ensure proper positioning in the post.
Said Young, "The key is doing it every single time. The guy may stay with you five, six, seven times, but as the game keeps going on and it's time for you to push through that fatigue and have that willpower, he's going to break."
Last season was full of ups and downs for Young, now a junior. He began the year with two straight double-doubles, but was only able to notch two more double-doubles for the rest of the season. He ended up averaging 10.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Young and coach Donovan hope that improved conditioning will lead to more rebounding opportunities for the team's center.
