Florida Gators senior guard Kenny Boynton is planning on taking on new responsibilities this season. Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun reports Boynton will be trying to show NBA scouts all of his talents.
First, Boynton plans on assuming a more active role as a team leader. That means helping freshmen learn plays, staying positive with the team is down, and making good decisions on the court. Says Boynton, "Being a point guard, it's just decision-making, being patient, not forcing things."
Boynton has also worked on his conditioning. In the offseason, he trained in Las Vegas with former college stars like Dion Waiters, Tu Holloway, and Hollis Thompson. This could help him regain his status as an elite defender in the SEC.
Finally, Boynton is preparing to split time at the point with Scottie Wilbekin. The two will alternate, based on matchups.
The Gators open their season on Friday against Georgetown.
