The Florida Gators kick off their 2012 season against the Georgetown Hoyas in the most unconventional of ways. The Gators and Hoyas will begin their seasons in Jacksonville on board the USS Bataan for Navy Marine Corps Classic. As the Gators prepare for a one of kind experience, they do it down an important part of their team.
According to ESPN.com, head coach Billy Donovan announced Thursday he suspended starting point guard Scottie Wilbekin indefinitely. Donovan did not give a reason for Wilbekin's suspension. Another factor that will affect both the Gators and Hoyas Saturday night is the weather. Temperatures for Saturday night's game are expected to be in the 50's. ESPN also writes that there could be some condensation on the court, making for a slippery court.
The Gators will also be without forward Casey Prather, who is recovering from a concussion he suffered a week and a half ago. Saturday's game is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network.
