Gators' Matt Patchan to transfer

Injury-plagued offensive tackle Matt Patchan will go to Ohio State or Boston College.

Florida Gators offensive tackle Matt Patchan will transfer, according to Pat Dooley of the The Gainesville Sun.

Patchan will transfer to either Ohio State or Boston College, Dooley wrote. Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer and Eagles head coach Steve Addazio were at Florida when Patchan, a redshirt junior, was recruited to play there.

Patchan played in 27 games over his career with Florida, including eight starts. He played 11 games as a defensive tackle in 2008 and four games in 2009 before an injury cut his season short. He missed the entire 2010 season because of an injury.

This season, Patchan had a strained pectoral muscle and did not dress for a game.

Safety De'Ante Saunders will also transfer, according to ESPN.

The transfers come on the heels of an 11-1 regular season for Florida. The Gators went 7-1 in the SEC. Florida, the No. 3 team in the country, will conclude its season Jan. 2, 2013, against the Louisville Cardinals in the Sugar Bowl.
