BCS Rankings, Week 9: Conferences With Florida Schools Well Represented

Though the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, and USF Bulls don't appear in the latest BCS rankings, the conferences in which they play are nonetheless well represented.

The LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, for the second straight week, which illustrates the strength of Florida's competition in the SEC. But they aren't the only teams representing the SEC: the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 10), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 13), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 22), and Auburn Tigers (No. 23) also appear in the latest rankings.

Meanwhile, the latest BCS rankings also include some of the Seminoles' rivals in the ACC, specifically the Clemson Tigers (No. 5) and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Finally, the West Virginia Mountaineers, at No. 25, stand as the lone Big East representative.

Thanks largely to the SEC's dominance, teams that share conferences with the Sunshine State's top clubs account for nine of the top 25 teams in the BCS. Perhaps in another year or so some Florida teams will rank among them.
