John Brantley Injury Update: Status Of Gator QB Still Unknown

The status of Florida quarterback John Brantley was up in the air, even heading into the game against the Georgia Bulldogs. During pre-game warm ups, according to the many on attendance in the press box, all signs seemed to point to Brantley getting the nod to start.

Michael DiRocco, the Gators beat writer for the Florida Times-Union sent out these tweets about Brantley during warm ups:

Heavy tape on John Brantley's right ankle. He's throwing in the end zone. Brantley is taking drops and bouncing on his ankle pretty good. Looks promising.

Gator AP writer Mark Long points out Charlie Weis heading to the booth rather than staying on the sideline.

Weis' move upstairs means John Brantley is starting. He would never be in the box with a true freshman QB.

About an hour or so later however, Brantley disappeared and freshman Jacoby Brissett began taking snaps with the first team offense.

From DiRocco:

Still no John Brantley on the field. Jacoby Brissett working with first-team in pass drills.

From Long:

Jacoby Brissett working with first-team offense for Gators. Still no Brantley. He remains in locker room
