Georgia Vs. Florida Score: John Brantley Starts, Florida Leads 7-0

The Florida Gators won the toss and took the football first, as the mystery as who would be playing quarterback for the Gators was revealed with John Brantley leading the first drive. Brantley started the game off with a 72-yard bubble screen to running back Jeff Demps, who broke out of an initial tackle that should have dropped the play for a loss, then ran through two arm tackles to hit the sideline and run another 50 yards. Florida's drive stalled out in the redzone however, settling for the short field but back up kicker Brad Phillips missed wide right.

Georgia got the ball on their own 21-yard line and quick picked up 15 yards on a pass from quarterback Aaron Murray. Florida forced the Dawgs to punt a few plays later however, stuffing their running game. Florida got the ball back and immediately picked up 20 yards on a passing play to running back Chris Rainey. On his first carry of the game however, Rainey went down with a right ankle injury. A few plays later the Gators found themselves in 4th and 19, deciding to go for it because kicker Caleb Sturgis is still out with an injury. Georgia forgot to cover the middle of the field as Brantley hit a wide open Jordan Reed for a 31-yard touchdown to take the lead 7-0.

The turnover bug that has plagues Georgia in this game the past decade struck once again as Aaron Murray was picked off by Marcus Roberson. Florida got the ball back on the 13-yard line, but went backwards on their first three plays and wound up punting the ball. Georgia got the ball back and began their drive with a 22-yard run by Isaiah Crowell. Thanks to a few penalties, Georgia has moved into striking distance as the first quarter ends.
