Georgia Vs. Florida: Bulldogs Rally To Drop The Gators 24-20

The Florida Gators took a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, but after that the Gators were outscored by the Georgia Bulldogs 21-3 the rest of the game. Right before halftime, the dogs scored on a touchdown pass from Aaron Murray to Michael Bennett on 4th down. Georgia was trailing 17-3 after Jeffrey Demps returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown after Georgia pulled within a touchdown.

Georgie got the ball first after halftime, but the teams wound up trading punts until the Bulldogs pulled off another fourth down touchdown to tie the game. Murray went to the jump ball again, but this time wide receiver Tavarres King from 14 yards out on fourth down. It was a terrific catch by King that tied the game. After Florida kicked a field goal to take a late 20-17 lead, Georgia began to take the game over.

Florida quarterback John Brantley was harassed all game long as sophomore linebacker Jarvis Jones sacked Brantley four times. Brantley was still dealing with his ankle injury, so he was a sitting duck in the pocket and couldn't even take snaps from center. The Bulldogs stifled the Gators offense and began to run the football on the Gators defense, as the Bulldogs went on a 9 play 45-yard drive that was capped off by a Richard Samuel go ahead touchdown to put the Dawgs up 24-20.

After John Brantley was sacked again on 4th and 10, the Bulldogs ran out the clock for the win. Brantley ended the day completing 12 of 33 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, but a large chunk of that was on a screen pass on the first play of the day. Florida was held to -19 rushing yards on the day, with both Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey getting banged up in the game.
