Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp did not announce his starting quarterback against LSU this week, and it turns out it may have been less gamemanship and more injury concerns that kept Muschamp from naming a starter. According to the Orlando Sentinel, John Brantley's replacement last week, Jeff Driskel, may himself be injured. Of course, this injury news did not come from Muschamp or offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, but rather Driskel's high school coach Nate Gierke:
"He was hurting, and I'm sure, if he hasn't been in the film room this week, he's been in the training room," Gierke said. "When you come to an ankle injury, especially when Jeff relies on his legs quite a bit, I'm sure he's doing everything he can. He said he's getting better every day with his ankle."
Despite this possible ankle injury, it has been thought all week long that Driskel would take the helm against LSU. However, it should be noted that David Pingalore of Orlando Local 6 is now reporting Driskel will not start the game, and it will indeed by Jacoby Brissett under center against the Tigers.
