John Brantley Injury Update: Florida Quarterback Out Vs. Auburn

Florida Gators quarterback John Brantley missed tonight's game against LSU with an ankle injury. All week there was unknown surrounding who would start for the Gators in Death Valley, and the player most thought would in Jeff Driskel also missed the game. There's no mystery about Brantley this week however, as Florida head coach Will Muschamp has already declared him out against Auburn.

Jason Lieser of The Palm Beach  Post tweeted:

Muschamp says John Brantley out next week, not sure if it'll be Driskel or Brissett vs Auburn.

It looks like it will be another tough week offensively for the Gators, regardless if it's Jeff Driskel or Jacoby Brissett starting. Against LSU, Brissett completed 8 of 14 passes for just 94 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. With teams keying now on Florida's rushing attack, they'll need to get something from whichever freshman quarterback starts. Against Alabama, Driskel was in the same boat at Brissett and looked lost and over matched.

Auburn's defense isn't along the same caliber as Alabama or LSU, so that bodes well for the young Gators quarterbacks.
