The Florida Gators (4-1) take on the Stetson Hatters (3-2) on Monday evening as part of the Florida Citrus Shootout, held at the Amway Center in Orlando. Gators coach Billy Donovan can pick up career win No. 400 if his team manages to dispatch Stetson.
The Gators haven't lost to the Hatters since Nov. 26, 1983, a streak spanning 16 meetings. For perspective, consider that loss came nearly 11 years before Donovan won his first game as a collegiate head coach.
Florida has won each of its last hree games, most recently a 107-62 drubbing of the Jacksonville Dolphins on Black Friday. Kenny Boynton led five Gators in double-figures with 22 points and four three-pointers. Russell Powell scored 15 to pace Jacksonville, which shot just 38.7 percent from the field and committed 15 turnovers.
Most recently, Stetson fell to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers by a 73-64 final. The Hatters lost despite sinking 13 three-pointers; instead, it was their inability to convert inside the arc (9-of-25, 36 percent) and at the foul line (7-of-15, 46.7 percent) that helped do them in.
Tipoff between Florida and Stetson is set for 7 PM on Monday, Nov. 28. Larry Vettel and Bill Koss will have the call on the Fox Sports Florida telecast.
