Billy Donovan Signs Extension With Florida Gators

Florida basketball head coach Billy Donovan has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Gators through 2016.

Basketball head coach Billy Donovan has been in Gainesville a long time, and it appears that he's going to remain a Florida Gator for even longer. According to the Florida Gators' official website, Donovan has signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the Gators.

Donovan is in his 16th season as the Gators' head basketball coach, and he's turned the Gators into a perennial powerhouse during his time here. His 367-149 record with the Gators is the best in school history, and he has tripled the Gators' berths into the NCAA Tournament from 5 to 16.

From the release:

"Billy Donovan has built one of the elite programs in the country at the University of Florida, he and his family have given 16 incredible years to this institution and community," said Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley. "His accomplishments speak for themselves, but he's also achieved success with integrity, character and loyalty. We're thrilled that he will continue to lead our program for years to come."

The Gators are currently 7-2 on the season and ranked #13 in the country in the AP Poll. Their next game is against Texas A&M this Saturday.
