Florida Vs. Mississippi Valley State: Gators Meet Delta Devils For First Time

The Gators (8-2) look to extend their winning streak to four games against the Delta Devils (1-8) on Monday night.

Monday evening, the No. 11 Florida Gators (8-2) host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (1-8) for the first meeting between the teams in history. Florida's seeking to extend its winning streak to four games, while Mississippi Valley State looks to avoid its losing streak reaching five games.

In their last game, the Gators dealt the No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies an 84-64 defeat thanks to 22 points and six three-pointers from junior guard Kenny Boynton. The Gators' decisive edge at the foul line--they shot 30 free throws to Texas A&M's 12--helped secure the victory.

Mississippi Valley State, meanwhile, lost to the Mississippi Rebels, 80-56, in its most recent outing. The Delta Devils shot just 29.7 percent from the field and were outrebounded by a 41-25 margin. Sophomore center Paul Crosby scored 16 points in defeat.

Florida owns a 5-0 all-time record against Southwest Athletic Conference teams, including a 99-59 victory over the Jackson State Tigers in its 2011/12 season opener.

Tipoff is set for 7 Eastern on Fox Sports Florida and ESPN3.com.
