The No. 13 Florida Gators (11-3) wrap up their non-conference schedule Tuesday night when they host the UAB Blazers (5-7) at Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern.
Florida saw its five-game winning streak end Thursday when the Rutgers Scarlet Knights upset them, 85-83, in double overtime despite 26 points from Kenny Boynton. Though it recovered Saturday with a blowout of the Yale Elis, Florida would certainly like to enter SEC play on a high note, which it can do with a victory against UAB.
After a 1-6 start, the Blazers have won four of their last five outings, most recently a 92-58 thrashing of the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Saturday. Ovie Soko led five Blazers in double-figures with 17 points. UAB bombed the Bulldogs from beyond the arc, shooting 11-of-18 from three-point territory in the easy victory.
Senior forward Cameron Moore leads the Blazers with 14.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a Conference USA-best 3.6 blocked shots per game.
Tuesday's is the first meeting between Florida and UAB since Dec. 30, 2006, in which the Gators rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat the Blazers, 75-70.
Tipoff between Florida and UAB is set for 7 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports Net. Dave Neal and Larry Conley have the call.
