Gators Close To Hiring Strength And Conditioning Coach

As Florida coach Will Muschamp continues his quest to replace departed offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, he's also looking to replace departed strength and conditioning coach Mickey Marotti, who left to join former Gators coach Urban Meyer at Ohio State last month.

It looks like Muschamp might be close to finding his guy for the latter position as Antonya English of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

"I'm very close on the strength,'' Muschamp said. "I've just got to finalize some things and get with Jeremy (Foley, UF athletic director). After that, the offensive coordinator, I've got no timetable. I'm trying to work through that and make the best decision for Florida.''

The Florida offense came up with just 10 points under interim offensive coordinator Brian White in the Gators' 24-17 win against Ohio State in the Gator Bowl, so filling the strength and conditioning void soon will be one less hurdle in the way to finding someone to help turn the team's offense around.
