#7 Florida Gators Vs. #1 Kentucky Wildcats: SEC's Top Two Meet in Lexington

The Gators are pretty good. After putting together an impressive 19-4 record and becoming absolutely unbeatable at home, their 7-1 record is one of the best in the Southeastern Conference. In most leagues, they'd be celebrated as their contender for the National Championship.

Not in the SEC. Florida heads to Lexington, Kentucky to face the league's best team and top ranked team in the nation, the Kentucky Wildcats. To say it's a measuring stick is an understatement.

As unstoppable as the Gators have been on their home court, they've been rather pedestrian on the road at 2-4. They better get a lot better quickly as five of their final eight games will be away from the O'Connell Center.

In Kentucky, the Wildcats have a 15 game winning streak with their only loss this season coming at Indiana. Kentucky is led by Freshman Phenom Forward Anthony Davis who averages 13.9 ppg and guard Doron Lamb's 13.5.

Kentucky has five players averaging in double figures while Davis is also averaging 10.1 boards a game.

Florida will need to contend with the Wildcats' stifling defense, who surrender just 57.7 ppg while leading the nation in blocked shots with 9.38. The Wildcats are also one of basketball's top rebounding teams averaging nearly 40 boards per game.

The Gators counter with one of the highest scoring offenses in the nation averaging 80.1 ppg. Florida does their damage beyond the three point arch, averaging national best 10.5 3 point field goals made per game. The Gators are a sparkling 40.2% from 3 point range.

Florida's Junior guard Kenny Boynton leads the team with 17.6 ppg while fab freshman Bradley Beal is providing 14.3 ppg.

The biggest question heading into this one is can the Gators be competitive on the boards. Florida is ranked 83rd in rebounds while Kentucky is 12th. If the Gators can limit the Wildcats second chance points and remain deadly from the three point arch, they certainly have an opportunity in this one.

The Gators are certainly playing the "the pressure's on them" card.

"There's no pressure on us, going into Rupp, just playing our game," Boynton told the AP, "We've just got to go there with a winning mind-set. Everything else will take care of itself."

Kentucky is 3-1 against teams currently ranked in the Top 25. Florida is 2-2.

While the Gators aren't really worried about an NCAA nod, an upset win over Kentucky in Lexington would all but sew up a spot in the big dance and improve Florida's chances at a high seed.
