Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, the nation's No. 4 overall prospect for the class of 2013 according to ESPNU, committed to Florida on Thursday, announcing his decision via Twitter. He had been visiting the school earlier in the day.
"I can officially say I am committed to THE University of Florida ! #GoGators CHOMP CHOMP," Hargreaves tweeted.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back from Tampa, Fla., selected the Gators over other programs such as Clemson, Miami, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame, becoming potentially the highest-rated recruit Will Muschamp has landed during his tenure in Gainesville.
Florida has 18 commits for its 2013 recruiting class, including four defensive backs in Hargreaves and including Tre' Bell, Keanu Neal and Nick Washington. The Gators' class is currently ranked No. 10 overall by Yahoo! Sports' Rivals.com, just behind Ohio State, which is coached by their former coach Urban Meyer.
