NHL Trade Deadline 2012: Florida Panthers Enjoy Quiet Deadline Day

Like every team, I'm sure that the Florida Panthers fielded their fair sure of calls on Monday as the trade deadline approached, but when it was all said and done, they ended up not making any moves at all. They had already acquired Jerred Smithson and Wojtek Wolski a few days earlier, so when they were up against it, they decided they were comfortable with their roster as is. Our Florida Panthers blog Litter Box Cats is pretty comfortable with that decision, considering where the team sits in the standings.

It was a very slow day, indeed lacking in any brand of drama, but the Panthers remain in first place in the Southeast Division, with games-in-hand on the competition, and oh yeah...it's late February. Not a position which forces a team to make rash or hurried moves simply for the sake of doing something, at least any team with rational leadership.

And that's the point, the Panthers didn't need to make a move, so they didn't make one just for the sake of having their name mentioned on deadline day. And that's a good sign for their leadership.
