Looking to get back on the winning track, the Florida Panthers broke a scoreless tie less than seven minutes into the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Sean Bergenheim netted his 10th goal of the season, taking a feed from Marcel Goc to beat Jonathan Quick. After being shut out by Tomas Vokoun and the Capitals on Tuesday, the Bergenheim goal was a welcome sight for the Panthers.
Florida then extended the lead with under three minutes remaining in the period. Mike Santorelli added his seventh of the season. The Cats have not lost a game this season when leading by two with only one period to play. Florida will also start the third period with a man advantage, as the Kings look to kill off more than a minute and a half of a Trent Hunter penalty.
