Seminoles Basketball Kicks Off With "Jam With Ham"

At midnight last night, the college basketball season officially kicked off. Some teams held practices right at the stroke of midnight, while others planned boosters and special events to get the season rolling. The Florida State Seminoles fell into the later category, planning a "Jam With Ham" event for this Friday at 6pm in the Donald L. Tucker Center.

As part of its yearly "Seminole Madness" celebration, FSU will be hosting a free, carnival-like event at the home of the hoops squad. There will be a players-only dunk contest and 3-point contest, and fans can compete with players in a free throw shooting contest. Fans also can win prizes and watch their coach, Leonard Hamilton - in his words - "drop it like it's hot."

While technically a "practice", who knows how much actual practicing the 'Noles will get in. It sounds like a fun time, so even if you're not all that into basketball, it might be worth dropping by for the free entertainment.

The Seminoles' first game is on November 11th against Jacksonville.
