Miami Vs. Florida State: Mistakes Mar First Quarter, Noles Lead 3-0

The start of the game was nearly a disaster for the Miami Hurricanes when quarterback Jacory Harris completed a pass to Travis Benjamin, who looked like he fumbled the football with Florida State returning the ball for a touchdown. After a lengthy review, the call was overturned. FSU eventually forced the Hurricanes to punt, but went three-and-out on offense. The Noles did pin the Hurricanes on the 1-yard line, but Miami mounted a drive.

The Hurricanes marched right down the field using both quarterback Jacory Harris and Stephen Morris. On third-and-14 on the 15-yard line, Jacory Harris threw a bad interception in the endzone, giving the football right back to Florida State. The Noles did nothing on the drive and averted disaster when E.J. Manuel was sacked near the goal line and fumbled the ball. FSU recovered however, and booted the ball out of the endzone.

On the punt, Shawn Powell boomed the ball to midfield where Benjamin overran the ball and touched it chasing it down, letting FSU recover. The Noles went nowhere despite the great field position however, and kicked a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.
