Tonight, the Florida State Seminoles (13-6) travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (11-8). FSU is coming off of a win against Duke that I'm sure I don't have to tell you about(If you're like me, you've watched the final 20 seconds of that game countless times since Saturday). The Seminoles need to make sure they are focused on their opponent this week because it would be easy for the team to still be reveling in the glory of beating Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. This Wake Forest team is coming off a win of their own, having defeated Boston College, 71-56, though I will not try to pretend these feats are on the same level.
Wake Forest is led on the court by guard CJ Harris (17.3ppg) and forward Travis McKie(17.1ppg). The top big man is Ty Walker, the senior center, who stands at 7 feet tall. Other players to watch for the Demon Deacons are guard Tony Chennault (2.9apg) and Chase Fischer (13 points vs. BC). Do not look for Wake Forest to win the rebounding battle as they are 11th out of 12 in the ACC in that category (FSU is 2nd). Offensively, they are middle of the pack (7th), scoring 68.1ppg.
It is important to watch how well Florida State's offense plays tonight. We can expect FSU's defense to be stellar as always, but if the Noles continue to limit turnovers and improve on their 3-point shooting success, there is no reason why this game should be close. I say if, because if they do not do these things, this game could be too close for comfort.
I say the Seminoles continue to put it together: FSU 79-63
The game tips at 7:00 PM EST and is being shown on RSN as well as ESPN3 if your cable company is nice enough to let you watch it there.
