Florida State Football Recruiting: Noles Officially Announce 18 Commitments On National Signing Day

Florida State football has officially announced 18 commitments on National Signing Day 2012 with all 18 officially sending in their letters of intent. The Seminoles class is headlined by five-star rated defensive end Mario Williams Jr. out of Ryan High School in Texas. Edwards was unanimously ranked as the No. 1 rated defensive lineman in the 2012 recruiting class.

The Noles were also able to pull in consensus No. 1 defensive back Ronald Darby out of Potomac High School from Oxen Hill, MD. Darby picked the Seminoles over Clemson and Auburn. Florida State pulled another five-star recruit out of the state of Maryland with defensive tackle Eddie Goldman out of Friendship Coll. Academy in Washington D.C. Five-star defensive end Chris Casher from Alabama and five-star running back Mario Pender also committed to the Seminoles.

The Seminoles missed out on four-star defensive end Dante Fowler, Jr. from Lakewood High School in the Tampa Bay area, as he decided to flip his commitment to the Florida Gators. Fowler cited the state of the Seminoles depth chart at defensive end for the reason for his switch.

Florida State was also able to pull a late coup on four-star linebacker Reggie Northrup out of First Coast High School in Jacksonville, FL. Northrup made the late switch to the Seminoles, picking FSU over Miami and Florida.
