It's been a rough week for both the Florida St. Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes. Both teams have been fighting for various achievements: the Seminoles for a higher ranking in the ACC standings and AP Top 25 poll, and the Hurricanes for a shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. So far this week, neither team has helped themselves out.
The No. 15 Seminoles lost to No. 5 Duke earlier this week by a score of 74-66 -- a loss that dropped them out of a three-way tie for first place in the ACC standings. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes lost a heart-breaker to Maryland, 75-70, and saw their chances at a bubble bid drop. Maryland is currently in eighth-place in the ACC, while Miami is sitting in fifth.
Both sides could desperately use a win. The Seminoles are favored by a good margin, but considering how much the Hurricanes have riding on the line, this game figures to be hard-fought down to the wire.
