Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is one of the candidates on Auburn's radar as it continues to search for a replacement to Gene Chizik, according to a report on AL.com that was picked up by the Tampa Bay Times.
In addition to Fisher, former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, Louisville coach Charlie Strong and Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn (who was previously the offensive coordinator at Auburn) are also under consideration for the job, according to the report.
Since rumors started circulating regarding Auburn's coaching search, Fisher has come out publicly and said he isn't shopping around for a new job and is content at Florida State. However, Fisher does have history at Auburn - he was a member of Terry Bowden's staff from 1993 to 1998 - and AL.com reported Fisher would at least listen to an offer from Auburn if he was seriously pursued.
Florida State has already lost a major part of its coaching staff this week, as defensive coordinator Mark Stoops left Tallahassee, Fla., on Wednesday to become the head coach at Kentucky.
