College Football 2012 schedule: Florida State battles Virginia Tech on Thursday

A mid-week showdown for the Seminoles headlines the local college football schedule this week.

With just one blemish on its record, Florida State will look to stay atop the ACC's Atlantic division with a win over Virginia Tech on Thursday. The Seminoles, who will have had 12 days off between games, are currently tied with Clemson for the division lead but have the inside track to the ACC title game due to their win over the Tigers.

Virginia Tech will look to play spoiler, as the Hokies are a disappointing 4-5 this season. Needing two wins in its final three games to be bowl eligible, Virginia Tech will surely be motivated.

Elsewhere in the ACC, Miami hopes to extend its ACC Coastal lead when it plays Virginia on Saturday. The Cavaliers sit in last place of the division.

The rest of the local schedule is below:

Thursday, November 8:

  • Florida State at Virginia Tech, 7:30 p.m., ESPN

Saturday, November 10:

  • Miami at Virginia, 12:00 p.m., ABC
  • Louisiana-Lafayette at Florida, 12:21 p.m., SEC Network
  • Central Florida at UTEP, 7:00 p.m.,UCF/UTEP
