Florida State vs. Virginia Tech score update: Teams tied, 3-3, after first quarter

The Florida State Seminoles and Virginia Tech Hokies are tied, 3-3, after the first quarter Thursday.

Both teams scored on their opening drives of the game. Florida State drove to the Virginia Tech 34, aided by a 23-yard pass from E.J. Manuel to Rashad Greene. Greene fumbled on the play, but Florida State recovered. Dustin Hopkins capped off the drive with a 52-yard field goal.

Virginia Tech got a 54-yard completion from Logan Thomas to Marcus Davis to help the Hokies get into field goal range on their first drive. Cody Journell capped the drive with a 35-yard field goal.

Manuel is 6 for 12 for 98 yards, and Thomas is 3 for 8 for 56 yards. Each quarterback has thrown an interception. Both teams have struggled in the running game. Florida State has -3 yards rushing and Virginia Tech has six.

Florida State has 89 yards of total offense in the quarter to 52 yards for Virginia Tech. Both teams have turned the ball over once.
