FSU 2013 football schedule: Seminoles add Idaho

The Florida State Seminoles have scheduled a game against the Idaho Vandals for the 2013 football season. It'll be the first time in program history that these two teams have met.

The Florida State Seminoles will play the Idaho Vandals for the first time in the program's history in 2013, according to a post by Bud Elliott on Tomahawk Nation. The game completes the Seminoles' non-conference schedule for next season, which includes games against the FCS Wofford Terriers, the Nevada Wolfpack and the Florida Gators.

The addition of the Vandals to the schedule bails the Seminoles out of having to play a pair of FCS teams. Had that gone through, the Seminoles could have possibly been hurt in their computer rankings and some critics could have easily used that fact against them towards the end of the season.

Elliot does say that this gives them a good opportunity to possibly get some extra rest before their game against the Gators. That is a luxury that the Gators have had for years:

Equally as important, however, is that the Seminoles finally have scheduled a cupcake game before taking on Florida -- something the Gators have done the week before taking on Florida State for years. The practice allows for more rest and preparation time before one of the more important games on Florida State's schedule.

The Vandals take the non-conference spot of the West Virginia Mountaineers. When the Mountaineers moved to the Big 12, they cancelled their game with the Seminoles.
