2013 Orange Bowl odds: Florida State favored by double digits

The Seminoles are expected to take down the NIU Huskies when the two teams meet in Miami on New Year's Day.

Florida State opened as a 13.5-point favorite over Northern Illinois in the 2013 Orange Bowl. Since then, the line has shifted at some sports books, and the Seminoles are now favored by anywhere from 12.5 to 13.5 points.

Florida State comes into the bowl game at 11-2 overall; the Seminoles defeated Georgia Tech in the ACC championship game, giving them their first league title since 2005. Northern Illinois is also coming into the game off a conference championship game win--the Huskies have won the last two MAC championships.

But Northern Illinois will be without the head coach who led it to those conference titles. Dave Doeren accepted the head coaching position at N.C. State the day after the Huskies beat Kent State for the MAC championship.

NIU have one of the nation's top-ranked offenses, while the Seminoles are No. 2 nationally in total defense.

The Orange Bowl will be played at 8:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 1. ESPN will televise the contest.
