Although the Ryder Cup is a battle between the USA and Europe, many of the European golfers live in the United States. Three of those golfers, Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Ian Poulter, reside in Florida. In all, 10 golfers with Florida residences are competing in the Ryder Cup.

Aside from those three golfers, Team Europe boasts another strong opponent for the USA. Captained by José María Olazábal, the team is headlined by Rory McIlroy, winner of the 2012 PGA Championship.

Graeme McDowell, who finished second at the U.S. Open, is also on this year's squad.

One veteran member of the squad playing some of the best golf of his career in 2012 is Sergio Garcia. The 32-year-old competed in his first Ryder Cup back in 1999 and holds a record of 14-6-4 in 24 matches.
