Jaguars vs. Packers score update: Late touchdown cuts Green Bay lead, Jacksonville trails, 14-12

While a blocked punt blew the score open for the Packers and put the home team up 11 points on the Jaguars, a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery by rookie second-round pick Andre Branch with less than a minute remaining in the half set up the Jaguars with an opportunity to score. The Jaguars were able to take advantage as Gabbert tossed a touchdown pass to offensive tackle Guy Whimper that cut the score to 14-12.

Gabbert's second quarter began with a deep bomb to Cecil Shorts III, but replay showed that the pass went through the arms of Shorts and was incomplete. While Gabbert completed a screen to Marcedes Lewis that went for a first down on the next play, he struggled from that point on with accuracy, missing several receivers, until the latter minutes of the quarter.

When the Jaguars were forced to punt, the Packers sent extra players to attempt to block a Bryan Anger punt and they were successful. The blocked punt ricocheted into the end zone before a Packers player fell on it to extend their lead to 11 points.

After the Jaguars were unable to convert a trip to the red zone into a touchdown and instead settled for a 22-yard field goal by Josh Scobee, the Packers attempted to score on a final possession with less than a minute left. Instead, Branch forced a turnover and Gabbert found Whimper from one yard out. The Jaguars attempted to tie the score, but a pass slightly behind Justin Blackmon was dropped by the rookie.
