The Jacksonville Jaguars are struggling, and after giving the Green Bay Packers a bit of a fight, the 1-6 Jags play host to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. On paper the Lions are the clear favorite, but Jacksonville has avoided a blowout in their last two losses.
The Jags defense will have a lot to contend with on Sunday. The Lions are No. 2 in the NFL in total offense with an average of 407.6 yards per game, and Jacksonville is in the bottom half of the league with an average of 387 yards given up per game.
Blaine Gabbert threw for a season-high 303 yards against Green Bay, but Jacksonville's offense is still dead last in the league. They're averaging just 14.7 points per game, and they have to contend with the Lions defense without Maurice Jones-Drew.
Detroit is 3-4 and has looked at times like a confused, sloppy team. If Jacksonville can catch them off guard and make the most of their opportunities, they may be able to pass on a moral victory and get a real one.
