Colts vs. Jaguars 2012: Jacksonville fans calling this worst team in franchise history

The Jacksonville Jaguars were blown out by the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night, leading some fans to claim this was the worst Jaguars team in team history.

The Jacksonville Jaguars' woeful 2012 campaign hit a new low on Thursday when the Jaguars embarrassed themselves in a 27-10 primetime loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Jaguars never really competed, falling behind 17-0 in the second quarter before finally getting on the scoreboard with seconds remaining in the first half. The Jaguars' only touchdown came in the fourth quarter.

Jacksonville is now 1-8 on the season, the worst start in franchise history. And over at SB Nation's Jaguars blog Big Cat Country, Alfie Crow surmises that this just may be the worst team in the short history of the franchise:

This, by almost all accounts, is the worst team in franchise history. Even the 1995 expansion team wasn't even this bad. By Week 10 of the 1995 season, the Jaguars had three wins and had lost just three games by more than a touchdown. The 1995 offense was near the bottom in the league on offense, but the 2012 Jaguars are dead last in total offense and points and the defense isn't far behind.

Jacksonville's offense has truly been horrible, with averages of 263.6 yards and 14.1 points this season. The defense has been nearly just as bad, giving up 389.1 yards and 27.3 points per game this season.

As Crow goes on to state, there's simply a dearth of talent preventing Jacksonville from even competing against most NFL teams. Blaine Gabbert has shown little progress, while rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon has been a dud. With Maurice Jones-Drew out of the lineup due to injury, there's really nobody on the Jaguars' offense worth worrying about.

Things will likely only get worse next weekend, as the Jaguars will go on the road to face the Houston Texans, arguably the best team in the AFC.
