Tim Tebow trade rumors: Can he work in Jacksonville?

If Tim Tebow and the Jets part ways after this season, would it make sense for the Jacksonville Jaguars to pick him up?

USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets reportedly will part ways with quarterback Tim Tebow after the season, and speculation as to his landing spot is already underway. The Jacksonville Jaguars represent one possible destination, though SB Nation's Big Cat Country doesn't like the idea of bringing Tebow in because of the potential distractions he'll bring at the quarterback position.

But Big Cat Country does see one way a Tebow-to-Jacksonville move could work -- if Tebow were willing to switch positions.

(It) could work in Jacksonville without completely fracturing the fan base further than it already is. If you get Tebow as not a quarterback, you still get all of the Tebow attention. You still get all of the Tebow air time, you still get all of the Tebow "sales" and hype without possibly hamstringing your football team in the process.

Tebow has appeared in 11 games for the Jets but has only thrown eight passes for 39 yards. With Mark Sanchez struggling, New York opted to go with Greg McElroy at quarterback rather than Tebow, which is a primary reason why Tebow is likely on his way out of New York after the season.

The Jaguars have started both Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne at quarterback this season. Jacksonville's offense ranks 31st in the NFL in both scoring and total yardage.
