The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of needs going into the 2013 NFL Draft, and with the second-overall pick, they can address almost any of them. They need to improve their pass rush, and that's just what they do in SB Nation's newest mock draft by selecting LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo.
The Jaguars are putting Jason Babin at the important Leo position, but Mingo is a much better fit. Look for him to be one of the superstars in Indianapolis. While he did have a down year statistically, the LSU defense called for him to play more contain and not over-pursue. He's athletic enough to play with his hand in the dirt or on his feet.
Mingo is an athletic freak, and he is also capable of playing a more well-rounded role than just pinning his ears back and going after the quarterback. Adding a player of Mingo's quality would not only help the pass rush, but also give the rest of the defense a better chance to do their jobs. The new regime may give quarterback Blaine Gabbert another shot next year, in part due to the relatively weak crop of quarterbacks in the 2013 draft class.
For more information in Mingo, check out his SB Nation scouting report. Last year at LSU, he accumulated 38 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. He also registered an impressive 12 quarterback hurries.
