Jaguars Waive Receiver Jason Hill

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made plenty of changes over the past 48 hours and today was no different. The team announced today that veteran wide receiver Jason Hill had been waived. The Jaguars signed Hill to a two year contract extensions in the offseason, worth $1.75 million. Hill was claimed by the Jaguars last season after he was waived by the San Francisco 49ers, who originally drafted Hill.

In the 2010 season, Hill appeared in six games catching 11 passes for 248 yards and one touchdown. In 2011, Hill started 10 games but caught just 25 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns. Hill had trouble holding on to the football and his route running had been sloppy. Two weeks ago against the Cleveland Browns, Hill dropped a could be game winning touchdown pass from rookie Blaine Gabbert.

Wide receivers Jarett Dillard and rookie Cecil Shorts III are expected to get more reps with the release of Hill.
