Buccaneers vs. Jaguars: Jacksonville 2nd Quarter Explosion Leads to 28-14 Halftime Lead

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a season high 28 points scoring two offensive touchdowns, a defensive touchdown and a special teams touchdown to rally from a 14 point second quarter deficit to lead 28-14 at the half.

Tampa Bay simply self-destructed after a rare good start, committing four turnovers that led to 21 Jacksonville points.

Tampa Bay had built a 14-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter with a 1 yard touchdown run by LeGarrette Blount and 13 yard touchdown run by Josh Freeman.

A fumbled punt by Preston Parker (his second of the game) was returned 8 yards for a touchdown by tight end Colin Cloherty to make it 14-7. The turnover seemed to breath life into the Jaguars who were able to stuff the Bucs.

The Jags got the ball back and Blaine Gabbert who hadn’t hit the broadside of a barn the entire ballgame hit Marcedes Lewis on a 62 yard bomb. The big pass play set up a one yard touchdown plunge by Maurice Jones Drew.

Next drive, Parker is penalized for holding, pushing the Bucs back to the 10 yard line – then Josh Freeman was sacked and fumbled the football, recovered by Jacksonville for a touchdown. Suddenly, the Jags are up 21-14.

On the ensuing drive, Freeman was intercepted at the Tampa Bay 49 by Ashton Youboty. Gabbert would work the Jags down to the red zone and then with just 0:11 left in the first half, hit Jones-Drew for a 5 yard touchdown.

Jacksonville leads at the half 28-14.

Tampa Bay outgained Jacksonville 183-178. Josh Freeman is 11/20 for 130 yards and an interception while Gabbert is 11 of 18 for 133 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Maurice Jones-Drew has 43 yards on 11 carries, one touchdown rushing and receiving.
