Monday Night Football Gaffe: ESPN Confuses Jacksonville And Charlotte

Jacksonville Jaguars fans have had a trying couple of weeks. Their franchise got sold last week to a car parts manufacturer with a spectacular mustache, and their 2011 season has been all but flushed down the drain. The Jaguars received some large national attention last night by hosting a Monday Night Football game, but they got pummeled by the San Diego Chargers in the process, losing 38-14.

So ESPN was only rubbing salt in the wound last night when they played flyover footage of Charlotte when, you know, they were covering a game in Jacksonville.

Video below the jump.

I know that Jacksonville is a small market, and that the Chargers-Jags games wasn't as high profile as ESPN would have ideally liked. And hey, I'm sure this was an innocent mistake by a production team that was rushed and under pressure. But at the same time, not only did ESPN confuse Jacksonville with Charlotte, but the Monday Night Football crew didn't bring their sideline crew to the game -- and that's not the first time they have done that to the Jaguars.

So ESPN, you might want to think about what sort of message you're sending to the Jacksonville area. Right now, it's not good.
