Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Jeremy Mincey is coming off his best season in the NFL, ending the 2012 NFL season notching a career high eight sacks after completing his first full season of his career. The Jaguars and Mincey haven't exchanged initial contract proposals yet however, according to a report by Adam Stites of Big Cat Country.
Jeremy Mincey is still fresh off of one of the best seasons from a defensive end for a Jaguars player in several years and, according to a source, the team wants to make sure he stays in Jacksonville. While the two sides have not yet sat down to negotiate and have not talked contract figures at all to this point, the Jaguars were also set back by a head coaching search and the filling of the coaching staff that followed shortly thereafter.
Stites reports that Mincey is a priority for the Jaguars to bring back in 2012, as they'll likely have a void at the defensive end position with Matt Roth also hitting free agency and Aaron Kampman coming off back-to-back season ending injuries and due a large chunk of salary. Mincey broke on to the scene in Jacksonville last season, taking over for first-round bust Derrick Harvey and picking up five sacks on the season. Prior to that, Mincey had bounced from a few teams and struggled to stay healthy.
