The Jacksonville Jaguars have been quiet prior to the start of NFL free agency, but released two players on Tuesday afternoon. The Jaguars release special teams ace and wide receiver Kassim Osgood, clearing up a little bit of cap space. Osgood announced his release on Twitter.
Well I had a great experience in Jacksonville. Good people, good fans, great city! I will not be a jaguar next year, but the show must go on
— Kassim Osgood (@kassimosgood81) March 13, 2012
Cutting Osgood saves the Jaguars roughly $2.993 million in salary.
The Jaguars also released offensive lineman Kevin Haslam, who also announced his release on Twitter. Haslam spent the 2011 season on injured reserve with a torn MCL, so his release may have more to do with his injury than saving money on the salary cap.
