2012 NFL Free Agency: Jaguars Sign Former Giant Cornerback Aaron Ross

The Jacksonville Jaguars have continued their spending spree so far in 2012 NFL Free Agency by agreeing to terms with veteran cornerback Aaron Ross, formerly of the New York Giants. Our Jacksonville blog Big Cat Country has some more background information on Ross and the role he has played throughout his career.

Ross, 29, has spent his entire five-year career with the Giants after they selected him with the 20th overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft, one pick before the Jaguars selected Reggie Nelson 21st. After making an early impact in his career, Ross was relegated to more of a reserve role in final two years in New York and started in 2011 only because Terrell Thomas was placed on injured reserve.

Details of the contract were not immediately available, but it is safe to assume that the Jaguars did not break the bank for Ross like they had with some other free agents. Big Cat Country also speculates that Ross received an incentive based deal, similar to some of the contracts the Jaguars have handed out this offseason.
