Jaguars Depth Chart: Rashean Mathis To Play In Nickel Packages

The Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, in the team's fourth and final preseason game of the 2012 season. Though starters don't figure to play long — if at all — rehabbing Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis should play for a decent amount of time, as the team eases him back from an ACL injury.

Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said that Mathis will begin the season in nickel packages.

"I would say that right now, because I think we're still working on Rashean to get back to the level of play. He'd tell you the same thing," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said about Mathis starting Week 1. "He's probably not a hundred percent yet but he's working his way back to it. I think he can play. I am not sure he can play at the level he's capable of playing right now."

Jaguars fans can look for Mathis in the nickel on Thursday night, but Mathis might not play too much, given that it is the fourth preseason game, after all.

As Alfie Crow pointed out over at Big Cat Country, Derek Cox and Aaron Ross figure to start while Mathis continues to recover from his knee injury.
