Giants Vs. Jaguars: John Estes Expected To Play 1st-Team Guard Against New York

Veteran offensive lineman John Estes will likely be making the move from back-up center to guard for the Jaguars first preseason game against the Giants. Estes spent most of Monday's practice getting first-team reps with both Will Rackley and Jason Spitz on the shelf with injuries.

Estes, who has spent his career in Jacksonville backing up Brad Meester, did not seem bothered by the switch at all and expects the transition to run smoothly. Via John Oesher of Jaguars.com:

"In a way it's kind of easier, because you're not worrying about the calls," Estes said of guard. "You just play and block your guys. The more versatility the better. It's whatever the team needs. I'm just glad they feel I can fill that position for them."

The Jaguars will make their preseason debut against the Giants on Friday night at EverBank Field. From here on out, the Jaguars will have to focus on getting healthy along the offensive front, but getting extra reps for backups and creating more depth can certainly be a positive.
